UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA

MEMORANDUM BY COL. JAMES L. CARDOSO, USAF COMMANDER | CHAIR, DEPARTMENT OF AERROSPACE STUDIES

AFROTC Cadet Anna Bridges is a USF student who consistently volunteers for ROTC and community activities while demonstrating excellence in academics and conduct of her duties. Despite being a pre-medical student, Cadet Bridges took time from her rigorous schedule as a Biomedical Sciences major to volunteer in the community and to relentlessly improve herself as a cadet. From January to August of 2017, Cadet Bridges maintained a regular shift volunteering at the Hope Lodge despite taking sixteen credit hours, excelling in ROTC training, and maintaining outstanding physical fitness. When Florida was in a state of emergency for Hurricane Irma, Cadet Bridges saw this as a call to action and became involved with the American Red Cross.

On top of her altruistic activities, Cadet Bridges maintains a 3.57 cumulative GPA. She is studying for the MCAT and will apply to medical school this summer. Last summer she graduated in the top 20% of her Field Training class (“Superior Performer” award) and earned a Cadet Training Assistant recommendation. She’ll return as a cadet instructor this summer. Currently she is the only junior on the cadet leadership team, cartying the position of Director of Staff, and is doing a phenomenal job.
